Two YouTube videos of T-ara N4‘s performance being stopped was recently released, which angered many fans and netizens.

On May 30, two new videos of T-ara N4′s “Countryside Diaries” performance at the Palms Pool Memorial Day Weekend party were uploaded. However, their performance was cut short in the middle because of Chris Brown, who suddenly stopped the girls to promote his new single.

During T-ara N4′s performance, Chris Brown suddenly interrupted, “Hey DJ, hold up real quick, hold up,” and “We got this new record real quick. My new single featuringAaliyah. It’s called ‘They Don’t Know.’ We might sneak peek it for you right now.”

Then he said, “We’re doing it after the girls do they thing. Keep watching.” While he was saying all of this, the ladies of T-ara could not hide their confusion and bewilderment. T-ara’s Eunjung looked back and kept saying, “What happened?” as she threw her hands up. Then the music was turned on again and the girls continued with their performance.

In the second clip, it shows T-ara N4 ending their performance but looking slightly disoriented and confused. Although there were sounds of cheers and fans yelling out their names, sounds of booing and a female voice yelling “Get off the stage” could be heard.

After watching these particular clips, fans were outraged as they commented, “T-ara N4 couldn’t avoid this humiliation because of their agency’s lack of preparation and rash decision to send them to the US,” and “[The agency] should’ve made them study English more. It seems like they can’t even get angry properly because they don’t understand what’s going on.”

Other fans commented, “He invites guests but he turns off their song in the middle to promote his own single? I can’t believe this,” “T-ara N4 is not the one who ruined the performance so why do they have to be booed?” “Did Chris Brown call them over to the US to treat them so poorly?” and many more.

T-ara N4 revealed that they were opening for Chris Brown’s party on May 20. However, on May 28, controversy first arose when clips of their performance was first uploaded due to their skin-showing outfits.

130525 Advice To T-ARA N4 ‘Be Courteous to Fans in America, Please’

Written By Regina Kim on Saturday, May 25, 2013 | 3:08 AM

T-ARA N4 left for the United States on May 23, two days earlier than scheduled due to a last-minute guest performance request from hip hop artist Wiz Khalifa who is holding a concert in Las Vegas on May 26.

With hopes and worries undoubtedly higher than ever, T-ARA N4 will, in a way, represent K-pop and, furthermore, musicians across Asia. Aside from controversies they have been involved in or compatibility of their music in a different market in the United States, one point of concern is their attitude and stage manner toward the fans.

On May 11, T-ARA N4 took part in 2013 Dream Concert in which 50,000 fans in attendance to see various idol artists sang along to most of the performances in harmony. Compared to just a decade ago when fans of rival idol groups would curse and get in unsightly scuffles with one another, the maturity of fans has definitely improved.

Also, unlike the worries of many spectators, the audience was incredibly receptive toward the performance of “Country Diary” by T-ARA N4, who has recently been on a downward spiral due to numerous scandals that have made them an easy target for public criticism. No booing. No silence. Just applause.

At the conclusion of the song, however, the members of T-ARA N4 quickly exited the stage after a short “Thank you.” It was a stark contrast to all the other performers who tried to have at least a short word with the audience.

Perhaps, T-ARA had their reasons. They may have been instructed to leave the stage as soon as possible to prevent any booing or backlash. Plus, they had just received Chris Brown’s request to meet with them in his studio in the United States. So, understandably, they were in a hurry. But, of course, they had a minute to spare.

At the last press conference prior to their departure for the United States, T-ARA N4 was asked whether they are rushing into performing in the United States especially because the public has been so critical and unrelenting toward them. They responded, “This is a rare opportunity. From now on, what is important for us is to be truthful in everything we do. Honesty and transparency are the answer to all the rumors and controversies we have been faced with. Please root for us.”

We hope the best for T-ARA N4 in the United States and wish that they will treat the local fans with good stage manners.

The last time singer Hyomin of K-pop girl group T-ara was featured in the Korean edition of Instyle, she was dressed as a conservative tomboy, with short hair and outfits that left a lot to the imagination.

As the Bob Dylan lyric goes, “things have changed.”

Hyomin is all woman in the June issue of Instyle, featuring a longer hairstyle and flirty outfits with a fun, springtime feeling.

The photos, which were posted on Hyomin’s official Instagram account this week, immediately caused a stir among T-ara fans.

“I need some air!” one fan commented, according to the website DKPopNews.

Back in January, when she did her last Instyle photo shoot, Hyomin also opened up to the magazine about her search for inner peace.

“I’m feeling how precious it is to be where I am,” she said. “Now I’m going to look forward, back, and sideways while carefully watching over my family and friends. Step by step, I believe I can build up myself completely.”

An Instyle representative said that Hyomin was a pleasure to work with.

“She was incredible with an alluring charm yet having the tomboy look,” the representative said. “She was dreamy and captivating.”

Earlier this month, Hyomin and her T-ara N4 bandmates met with American hip hop artist Chris Brown in Los Angeles, amidst intense fan speculation that a collaboration could be in the works.

T-ara N4 is a sub-unit of the seven-piece T-ara.

When the four members of T-ara N4 touched down at LAX, they were met by 300 screaming fans and 18 bodyguards Brown had sent to escort them to their hotel, according to the website Allkpop.

Later that day, the girls visited the rapper at the set of his new music video.

“I’ve wanted to meet you,” Brown gushed.

“Thank you for liking our music, inviting us to the United States and even sending out a limousine and bodyguards,” one of the members of T-ara N4 answered.

The girls presented Brown with a ceramic pot as a token of thanks, according to Popdust.

The warm welcome, was assuredly a nice change of pace for the members of the group, who have had to be on the defensive about charges they hounded former member Hwayoung out of T-ara.

“People might think [we bullied Hwayoung] if you just read everything that’s online,” T-ara N4′s Eunjung told the host of the South Korean television show “Beatles Code 2.”

“But even I was rumored to being bullied. To be honest, we had an argument with Hwayoung for about two days during the incident. But it was wrong of us to publicly make statements through Twitter. It was wrong to write about the topic, period.”

Eunjung added that the online speculation of K-pop fans and various media outlets only made matters worse, particularly when the band didn’t respond to the rumors directly.

“The more we stayed silent, the rumors and misunderstandings kept growing,” she said. “It was so bad that even we were getting confused. I thought I’d lived without any regrets, but I was pained because I felt I’d become a bad person.”

130522 T-ARA Continues to Receive Criticism, ‘Any Solution in Sight?’

T-ARA’s bullying controversy was a huge issue, as it became a turning point for the girl group who was soaring higher than ever at the time the news broke out. Ever since then, T-ARA has been on a constant downward spiral and is now widely regarded as a group of ‘bad’ girls.

T-ARA tried everything they could do resolve the issue, remove the stigma, or at least control the damage somewhat. They put together a spin-off group in T-ARA N4, continued activities despite controversies and came back with ‘Country Diary’ which is based on a drama that has a place in many Koreans’ hearts as the longest TV show in Korean history. They made appearances in talk shows to grab the bull by the horns and recently announced their move to the U.S. market.

If any other idol group did the things above, they may have received a lot of support and perhaps even forgiveness. All are proven strategies that have worked well in the past to rescue tainted images of celebrities. But it has not worked for T-ARA as they are still widely disliked by the public.

Why has the tide not turned for T-ARA?

The biggest reason lies in the society’s animosity towards bullying. Bullying is a prevalent social problem that is near to many people in their own childhoods or those of their children’s. As such, the public responds more sensitively to it and carries a lasting effect than unlike most other scandals. Also, it does not help T-ARA that teenagers, who has the loudest voice on the Internet, are the most repulsive to bullying.

Another reason is in how T-ARA handled the bullying controversy. They never directly addressed it, Hwa Young left T-ARA, and the public still does not have a good idea about what actually took place behind closed doors. No apology, no explanation, only excuses.

Overall, T-ARA avoided the problem altogether, counting on the public’s poor memory and tendency to move on to the next big issue. But the wound was left untreated and it has now festered after a period of negligence.

There is only one solution that may change the public’s perspective at this point. It is to make it big overseas and make people proud for T-ARA’s success. Certainly, it is no guarantee that their success will win back the hearts of those who have turned their backs. But it is their best shot.

130523 T-ara N4 move their departure date up in order to appear in a Wiz Khalifa concert

Girl group T-ara’s unit T-ara N4 (Areum, Hyo Min, Eun Jung, and Ji Yeon) have advanced their date of departure for the United States. According to a report by their agency, Core Contents Media, T-ara N4 was supposed to leave the country in order to appear as surprise guests at a concert by the well-known American R&B singer Chris Brown, to be held in Las Vegas. However, the group was invited to a concert by another renowned singer, Wiz Khalifa, which required them to move up the departure date.

The agency says, “T-ara N4 advanced the departure date on the request of American hip-hop singer Wiz Khalifa. We urgently rearranged their schedule of performances in Korea so that they could depart for United Stages in time to be guests at Wiz Kahlifa’s concert, which is to be held on May 24. Wiz Khalifa will be featured as a rapper in T-ara N4’s new song “Jeon Won Diary,” and they are to perform together at his concert.”

Wiz Khalifa is known for having been featured as a rapper in pop band Maroon 5’s hit song “Payphone” and T-Pain’s “Five O’Clock,” and for the duet “Young, Wild & Free” sung with Snoop dogg. He also won a BET award and an American Music Award in 2011, and an Billboard Award last year.

At 3:15 p.m. on May 23, T-ara N4 will depart for Los Angeles, and will perform “Jeon Won Diary” together with Wiz Khalifa at his concert on May 24 and will also appear at Chris Brown’s concert on May 26.

130517 Netizens discover conflicting statements on Jiyeon’s first kiss experience

Written By Regina Kim on Friday, May 17, 2013 | 10:30 PM

Jiyeon is on the chopping block yet again for her conflicting statements.

Back on May 13, the four members of T-ara N4 were guests on Mnet‘s ‘Beatles Code 2‘, and the girls received attention as they talked about their first kisses. On the episode, Jiyeon had shared, “I had my first kiss in my third year of junior high. I don’t remember well but I think he was an oppa.”

However netizens have dug up a past statement from Jiyeon which conflicted with what she stated on Beatles Code. Back in May 2010, she appeared on ‘Strong Heart‘ and stated, “I shared my very first kiss with Yoo Seung Ho, my ideal type.” She shared a kiss with Yoo Seung Ho for a scene in the music video for the ironically titled, “Lies“. Jiyeon also revealed on the same show, “I was embarrassed during the kiss scene because Yoo Seung Ho’s face was right in front of mine. I was going to just pretend, but we did it for real because the director demanded it. It was the first kiss of my life. I really enjoyed it.”

Some netizens who discovered this stated, “You’re not even that old. How can you not remember who your first kiss was with?“, “At a time like this, she should’ve been more careful“, and “Is anything she says the truth?“. Others came to Jiyeon’s defense and said, “It’s not strange for someone to not remember clearly“, and “She probably just got mixed up, she did say she didn’t remember well“.
